Gum diseases

Periodontitis or Pyorrhea are inflammatory diseases in the gum tissue that support and surround the teeth. Gum disease leads to ongoing loss of bone around the teeth. When left untreated, it will eventually cause the teeth to come loose and fall out. Gum disease is characterized by symptoms like bad breath and red, tender, swollen and bleeding gums, and sore or loose teeth.

At our practice Dr. Stark offers laser therapy to treat gum disease. Laser therapy doesn’t involve scalpels, sutures, injections or drills and is therefore not invasive. Instead, laser therapy gently disinfects and evaporates diseased tissues from around the tooth and inside the gum pocket. first, the laser's heat strips away the diseased gum at a low wave length. It then increases slightly to do the second job: heating the area to form a clot that will cover the wound and bring about healing.
